In fact, we love, LOVE it.

What we do at Piece of Cake is a kind of a big deal, no, seriously. Hopefully, if you are about to buy a wedding cake, it will be the only one you ever buy. You'll have lots of cars, and likely homes in your life, but probably just the one wedding cake. When you celebrate your 30th wedding anniversary, you will remember little details of that cake. You won't remember how charming I was (and I was charming, believe that), and you may not even remember our company name, but you will remember some of the details of your wedding cake and you will absolutely remember if it was awesome or if it was a janky pile of suck. You may not remember the flavors, but you'll remember if you loved it or if you couldn't spit it out fast enough.

This is why we take what we do so seriously. The couples that choose Piece of Cake aren't just trusting us to make cake for them, they are trusting us to make a lifelong memory, and not just any lifelong memory, they are trusting us to make a great one.

Winning awards like this that are based on brides providing feedback about us, doesn't just mean that we make great cakes (we do though, ask my mom) it means that we created something that our couples loved and something they will remember fondly, forever. I've gotta tell you, from where I sit, that seems like a pretty great thing to do with our lives.

So, thank you so much to all of the couples that we have been lucky enough to work with in the past few years, we are proud to have created a great cake, and more importantly, a great memory for you.

PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-72513219814096054652010-11-15T12:13:00.004-07:002010-11-18T12:42:18.293-07:00I hate to see this happen to a couple on their wedding day.We see this way too much. :( We get monthly calls for emergency wedding cakes because someone suddenly realized they couldn't handle the pressure of doing wedding cakes or delivered a bad product. Aside from a loophole in Tempe, Maricopa county doesn't allow home bakeries, yet 40+ new ones pop up every year... most are usually gone by the next year often leaving a bunch of upset brides in their wake. With the popularity of cake shows on TV, more and more people are deciding to take a stab at doing cakes professionally and more and more brides are having their big day ruined by a mess sitting on the cake table.

Note: The video is a bit slow to load

There are plenty of great cake companies in AZ, make sure you do your research on sites like Weddingwire.com and talk to your facility and other vendors about their recommendations before making such an important decision.

Best of luck!PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-47415516079816656512010-11-12T11:43:00.003-07:002010-11-12T11:46:55.412-07:00How to avoid a cake topper tragedy
Anyone that has been to enough weddings has seen a cake topper decide that it wants to be anywhere but on top of the cake. It usually goes like this: The cake sits for an hour or so and begins to get softer, the ceramic topper with the poor center of gravity and improper weight distribution starts to lean. Unfortunately the tiny base of the topper is no match for the forces at work and the topper falls. It would be nice if it jumped clear of the cake when falling, but no such luck; it hits the top tier, then the middle; and finally crashes into the corner of the bottom tier and just like that your very beautiful cake becomes very ugly.

Nearly all cake gets softer the longer it is out of refrigeration and what used to be a flat firm cake top starts to give with the weight of the topper. As long as the topper has an appropriately sized base, it’s usually not a problem, but many of the toppers being sold today have a tiny base and incredibly poor weight distribution (like the one with the groom holding the bride). Here is an easy test to see if your topper could cause you problems on your wedding day:

Put a clean pillowcase on your pillow and sit your topper right in the middle of the pillow. If it doesn’t wobble and fall off… it should be safe on your cake, assuming it isn’t really heavy.

Even if it is heavy, your cake baker can probably account for the weight by adding support underneath it. It’s easy to support a heavy topper with a big base, but supporting a top heavy topper with a small base can still often lead to disaster.

If you already have a topper that doesn’t pass the pillow test, you can always use flowers or something else as the cake topper and place the ceramic topper on the table. It looks great and it will eliminate a potential wedding day problem.

Happy Planning!

(reposted from my blog entry on weddingaces.com)
PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-20663801140113982142010-07-12T15:16:00.010-07:002010-07-12T21:12:06.505-07:00Cake smashing and the rule of tenfold
If you are married, getting married, or have ever attended a wedding you are probably familiar with this practice. For the uninitiated, it goes like this; bride and groom cut the first piece of cake and instead of simply feeding it to each other, they smash it in each other's faces. Often this practice is discussed ahead of time and the bride and groom decide if they will be gingerly feeding each other or introducing their new spouse to the business end of a handful of buttercream.

As long as they both know what to expect, it's all good. Plenty of people look forward to smashing cake in the grill of their new spouse as much as anything else on their wedding day. However, a complication can occur if it has been predetermined that no smashing will take place and then, in the heat of the moment one of them breaks the vow and smashes anyway. Most grooms don't want any part of the surprise smashing because they know if they get cake on that dress, things could go pear shaped pretty quickly for them. But when the bride is the one that stages the ambush, a little known genetic defect in every man could rear it's ugly head. Guys, you know what I'm talking about... The rule of tenfold!

Not familiar with the rule of tenfold ladies? You may not know it by name, but surely you have seen it in action at least once. Ever been hanging out by the pool when Dude A splashes a little water on Dude B and almost instantly Dude A finds himself in the pool with all of his clothes on, iPhone in pocket? Classic rule of tenfold example. The guys rule of tenfold simply states that anything someone does to you, you must immediately do back to them with 10x the intensity. The rule is like Fight Club in the sense that we don't talk about it, but I assure you it exists and it generally comes forward like a reflex, with no thought at all.

As you might expect, when an unsuspecting guy gets a face full of cake, he may involuntarily head down an ugly road, one that is gong to leave your dress covered in red velvet cake and his buddies cheering him on like he's playing in the Super Bowl.

So ladies... but be careful out there. It's OK to smash but I suggest you provide as much warning as possible to minimize any potential dress damage.

A word to the fellas:

If you have an agreement in place to refrain from smashing, prepare yourself for the possibility that your new bride could break the treaty...and if she does, let it slide brother, let it slide. Dab a little frosting on her nose with a smile and let it go man. I promise you will be glad you did!
PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-12298658733306463172010-05-19T16:09:00.012-07:002010-06-01T02:26:28.937-07:00Glee cakeWhen the cast of the hit TV show Glee was in town last week performing Glee Live, we were scheduled to head over to the KISSFM 104.7 studio with our friends at A Savory Affair (amazing caterers) to deliver a cake we would be creating for the cast. We had planned and prepped for it, baked cakes, and were ready to dive into the heavy decorating when a schedule change nixed their in studio radio interview. No big deal, stuff happens and celebrity schedules change, but there was a problem... we REALLY wanted to make this cake. So what does a mildly unstable cake shop staff do when an order falls though for a cake we really want to make? We return to work Saturday afternoon after our deliveries and make it anyway!!! (You know you love what you do when you do it... just to do it!) We changed up the design a bit, but we love the way it came out!

What do we do with a 100 serving Glee themed cake that took hours to make that no longer has an intended recipient? That part was easy.. I called up the wonderful people over at Sunshine Acres Children's Home and as luck would have it they have 60+ great kids and 30 staff members who just so happen to love free cake! We delivered it Monday afternoon and by the reception we got you would think we had just delivered new cars, it not only made their week but it made ours too.

In the end I couldn't be happier with how it worked out, we got to have fun creating it, Gleeks everywhere get some new cake eye candy, and the kids of Sunshine Acres got one heck of a dessert.

And that, my friends, is one of the many reasons I love what I do!

PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-74440088600794002112010-03-16T19:13:00.003-07:002010-03-17T00:50:25.744-07:00Piece of Cake wins a 2010 Bride's Choice Award and 2010 The Knot Best Of Weddings!!

We recently found out that we were voted as one of the The Knot’s top 10 wedding cake companies in the entire state Arizona in their 2010 Best of Weddings survey! They also list a few companies that received perfect health department inspections as part of the Dean's List. We were mentioned on the June 18th segment as a member of the Dean's List. While it's not our first perfect inspection, it's always nice to be recognized for running a clean shop.

You can see the video and read about it here. PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-8995294373362852772009-06-11T01:15:00.008-07:002009-06-12T01:40:57.188-07:00Everybody Hates Fondant !?!
(This entry is from my weekly blog over at http://www.WeddingAces.com)

By now you’ve probably had more advice on wedding planning from friends and family than you can stand… and to make it worse it seems everybody has differing opinions. Fortunately there is one exception that your friends and family probably agree on 100% … “Fondant is disgusting”. From many accounts it would seem that fondant is responsible for global warming, the country’s economic issues, and the deaths of countless baby seals. However, fondant is also responsible for creating some of the most beautiful and intricate wedding cakes. So what do you do?

Well, I’m here to tell you. . . . .It is absolutely not true.

Yes, I am actually saying fondant can taste good. I know, you’re thinking “if fondant is so good, why does everybody hate it”? It is actually the fault of a single brand of fondant that truly does taste horrible and as an added bonus, it leaves you with an aftertaste that will linger well into your honeymoon.Unfortunately this brand of fondant is available nationwide at places like craft stores, Wal-Mart, etc. and it is actually intended for beginning cake decorators to practice with. And, because it is so readily available, it has become the most widely used fondant amongst cake decorators in this country.

There are some truly delicious homemade and commercially available brands of fondant out there (A good fondant tastes almost exactly like a marshmallow), so if you love a design that will look better in fondant (and most do), don’t be afraid to taste test your baker’s fondant so you can decide for yourself. Also, most bakeries put a healthy layer of buttercream frosting under the fondant giving you all of the flavors you want and that super smooth fondant look.

Happy Planning!
PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-8230797726310235422009-02-28T01:36:00.002-07:002009-02-28T01:39:57.763-07:00Email Basics: Get more out of your first vendor contact!
(This entry is from my weekly blog over at http://www.WeddingAces.com)

You’ve scoured the web looking at thousands of wedding cake pictures, you’ve read hundreds of reviews on WeddingWire.com, and you have finally narrowed your search to a handful of bakeries that you would like to learn more about.

Generally you have 3 options for contacting your potential bakeries. 1) the phone call 2) email 3) stopping by their bakery. More often than not, bakeries aren’t prepared for walk-in wedding cake consultations so usually this will only result in an appointment being scheduled.

The phone call is nice because it provides immediate interactivity and allows your questions to get answered on the spot. Email is usually more convenient since it can be composed at any time of the day or night and it gives you documentation of what each baker has to say . When contacting a bakery by email, there are a few items that you should include to make certain that you get the answers you need with the least amount of headache on your part.

Each email should include the following:

1. Your wedding date. Even the most popular and well staffed shops have a limit on the number of wedding cakes they can create in a particular week. Including your date on your very first email could save you a ton of time by keeping you from communicating with a bakery that doesn’t have your date available. After all, planning your wedding can almost be a full time job, you want to make certain that you waste as little time as possible.

2. The location of your wedding reception. This is extremely important for delivery purposes, it is highly likely that some bakeries won’t be able to deliver to certain locations that are a long distance from their shop based on the delivery schedule of wedding cakes already booked on your date.Excluding this information could lead to your attending a cake consultation at a bakery that won’t be able to deliver your cake.

3. The number of guests you are expecting to attend your wedding. Some bakeries have minimum orders so it’s a good idea to give them this information up front, just in case.

4. Budget. If you have a strict budget that you cannot exceed, include that information as well. If you want to feed 200 people and have a strict budget of $500, let them know. They may tell you that their pricing starts at $5.00 per serving and that they have no option that would allow 200 guests worth of cake for $500. Including this information can save you massive amounts of time and frustration.

5. Pictures of wedding cakes you might be considering. Cake artists have different styles, some are really comfortable with certain types of designs, some not so much. It’s important that the style of cake you have chosen match the style of the baker you are considering. A mismatching of styles is often how a great idea turns into an ugly wedding cake.

I promise that the inclusion of this information will get you faster and more relevant responses from prospective bakeries than you would get by leaving it out. Items 1-4 are actually useful in your email communication to all potential wedding vendors, not just bakeries. I recommend just typing the info up and saving it for an easy cut and paste into the body of each email in addition to any specific questions that you have for the vendor you are emailing.

Happy planning!
PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-89842945453833994792009-02-02T01:42:00.007-07:002009-02-02T02:11:17.044-07:00Kevin Kossman selected as a Wedding Ace!
If you are wondering who Kevin Kossman is, well... that's me! One of their most recent entries is about one of the best wedding vendors in the state, and down the page a little bit is an even entry about us. ;)

The Wedding Hub Blog

PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-47166428698087057122009-01-27T00:23:00.007-07:002009-01-27T02:27:41.908-07:00Something you don't want to miss: Brides Give Back
As a reader of this blog, there's a pretty good chance that you are getting married in the near future, and if you are... I have an event for you! It's called Brides Give Back and it is being planned by our friends over at The Wedding Hub.

Here's what they did... they grabbed a bunch amazing vendors and brought them to one of the best reception sites around, for good measure even mixed in a little food and drink. There will be beauticians doing mini makeovers and even a photo booth for you to play with. That's not even the best part. Not only will you be able to meet some of the best vendors in the state, but you may actually win their services at a huge discount for your wedding through the silent auction! (As you've probably guessed, we donated a wedding cake).

As if that weren't enough motivation to attend, all of the proceeds will directly benefit Faith House, an amazing valley domestic violence shelter that helps over 300 women and children each year.

Here are the details:

Date: February 19, 2009

Time: Doors open at 6:00PM

Location: Villa Siena in Gilbert, AZ

Cost: $15.00

For more info or to get your tickets, vist http://www.bridesgiveback.com/

We hope to see you there!

PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-44641213076242934362009-01-08T21:45:00.000-07:002009-01-10T15:44:13.496-07:00It's that time again! It's bridal show weekend again and due to our crazy schedule we regret that we are unable to attend, but you really must stop by and meet some of the wonderful facilities that we partner with:

Regency Garden
Villa Siena
Stonebridge Manor
The Castle at Ashley Manor
The Boojum Tree Hidden Gardens

And don't forget the food:

Heidi's Events and Catering

You will see hundreds of companies during your visit to the show (it's overwhelming, I know) and when you get home, many of them will start to blend together in your head... so how do you choose? I will offer a few pieces of advice:

1. Check reviews on everyone at WeddingWire.com. Companies that have been in their respective business for a while will usually have reviews from past brides. Review sites can be an excellent resource! Be aware, these types of sites can be manipulated, so look for reviews from brides that have reviewed a number of other vendors as well as the vendor you are looking at. If a vendor has a handful of reviews that were all posted within a couple of days of each other and their brides haven't reviewed any other vendors... be wary.

2. If the company is a caterer or a cake company, also visit Maricopa County Food Establishments site and type in their name. If they are legal and licensed, they will appear and you can find out a little bit about them. If they don't appear, be careful. It is illegal in this state to operate a foodservice business out of an unlicensed kitchen and each company requires their own permit. Due to liability issues, some reception sites will turn away a delivery of a cake or catering food delivered by a company that has no permit. That could be really bad news on your wedding day.

3. If you already have a vendor or 2 selected that you feel really comfortable with, ask them. You can ask about companies they would recommend or ask about specific companies that you saw at the show. The AZ wedding vendor community knows each other pretty well and people that are really good at what they do tend to work with others that are good at what they do.

4. You've heard this before, but I will say it again. You're probably a nice person (I said probably) so if a vendor that you don't particulary care for hands you a brochure, you probably aren't going to set it ablaze and toss it back in their face while chanting "burn baby burn".
In all likelihood you will politely put it into the big plastic bag you have been carrying all day... along with the brochures of the vendors you loved! This is what helps cause "vendor confusion", so I suggest you do something different to the brochure of the vendors that you really liked. Fold a corner, mark on it with a pen, leave a lipstick mark on it, whatever will help signify to you "these guys rock".

The Phoenix Metro area is blessed with some of the most amazing wedding vendors in the country, all here to help make your day perfect, and the Bridal Fashion Debut puts a lot of them in the same place at the same time so while you want to take advantage of it... don't stress if you can't talk to everyone (trust me... you can't).

For more tips on getting the most out of the bridal show click here

Have fun and happy planning!PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-79735699315170538472008-12-23T22:50:00.001-07:002008-12-23T23:29:17.560-07:00Happy 20th Anniversary to the Tempe Convention & Visitors Bureau!
Recently we had a really big... no, make that giant cake that was ordered by the Tempe Convention & Visitors Bureau and Southwest Airlines to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Tempe CVB. We've been ridiculously busy at the shop but that is no excuse for 3+ months of blog neglect. I had some plans for my next entry but after today, that is going to have to wait until I tell this story (albeit an incomplete one).

We deliver the majority of our wedding cakes, but we usually have at least one each week that gets picked up for one reason or another. Today we had one pick up... we'll call that couple Mike & Angie (because those are actually their names). :)

Mike & Angie were having an initmate wedding with about 50 guests and had selected a 2 tier stacked cake, the bottom was square and the top was hexagon and each had a different design.

So Mike shows up this morning all alone, telling me how nervous Angie is about the fact that he is delivering their wedding cake. I go to the back and produce the 14"X14"X14" box that holds their cake inside and I open it so that he can check it out. He gives the thumbs up and says she is going to love it... but then he asks the question "Can I have an extra box?". Initially,I think that the box is so that they can save any leftover cake, but in the next minute Mike unveils his hilarious and evil plan to me.

Here's the plan:

Get an extra box (a big one, just like the cake was in)

Buy 2 grocery store cakes and place them on top of each other inside the extra box

Leave the real cake in his car and carry the "fake" cake into the reception site

Fall down

Open the box to reveal a ruined "wedding cake" to his soon to be bride

Watch her get mad/sad/irate/etc

Reveal the prank and get the real cake out of his car

Beg for forgivness

Find a ride home

As of right now, I don't know how the prank went over or if they even got married, but we at POC have mad respect for our boy Mike for even attempting this stunt. I hope it all worked out man!

If she did marry you... your first anniversary cake is on us!PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-13508284158230204002008-08-24T13:26:00.000-07:002008-08-24T14:27:10.497-07:00Flipped!It's always fun when a couple lets us do funky stuff to their cake, so as you can imagine... we had some fun this week!

This cake was delivered to Villa Siena on Saturday and even though we create wedding cakes for 80% of the weddings that take place there, we got some funky looks while setting this one up. :)

The bride loved it and the caterers were freaked at the prospect of having to disassemble and cut it... to me that makes for a pretty sweet delivery!

PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-88311288157992760662008-07-23T00:13:00.000-07:002008-08-05T12:34:28.460-07:00Look for us on WeTV's Wedding Central on August 10th, 2008!
We just got word that the Wedding Central episode that was partially filmed at our shop will be appearing on WeTV on August 10th, 2008 (check your local listings for times, but in AZ on DirecTV it's on at 8PM). I must warn you though… they interviewed me 3 times and 2 of them were prior to any caffeine consumption whatsoever. In other words, I may actually embarrass my mother.

Aside from my sleepy eyed rambling it should be a great episode. Carol (our bride) was really a joy to work with and even though reality TV means repeating things over and over (I think she had to “enter” our shop 3 times for the camera) she kept smiling the whole time…well at least the time spent with us.

Here are a couple of shots of the cake we created for Carol & Mark on their big day:

You can see a preview of Carol & Mark's wedding in the "Little People, Big Day" segment of the WeTV Wedding Central video below.

Congratulations Carol & Mark!!

More information about this epsiode, including airtimes can be found here: http://www.wetv.com/wedding-central/episodes/little-people-big-day

Unfortunately COX doesn't carry WeTV, so if you can't watch it... you can take my word for it... we rocked. ;)
PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-48988660972085688252008-05-15T00:12:00.000-07:002008-06-02T02:02:51.914-07:00The Impromptu Cake Throwdown at The Castle at Ashley Manor!!!!What a cool week this has been so far!

So we get a call from The Castle at Ashley Manor on Monday (5/12) and they invite us to attend their first ever "public" open house on Wednesday (5/15). If you have ever seen The Castle you know how awesome the place is...obviously we accepted. But there was a catch... and an awesome one at that.

You see, they were looking for another cake vendor to add into their all inclusive packages but they weren't actually selecting us (here's where the awesome part comes in), they were inviting us and the other top cake companies in the valley (6 in all) to compete against each other for a shot at the title. Awesome right??? A freaking cake throwdown!!! It gets better... Instead of just selecting who they wanted as their cake vendor... they gave the power to the people! All of the attendees were given ballots and were able to cast votes using 5 different criteria (cake appearance, flavor, etc) to evaluate the cake companies. Basically, the couples looked, they tasted, they chatted, and they voted.

If I am being honest, I'm not even sure I would have voted for us if I had been an impartial attendee. There were so many great cake vendors with amazing displays and delicious cakes to taste, I imagine that the voting was extremely close.

In the end... I am happy to say that the majority of couples in attendance voted Piece Of Cake (hey, that's us!!) as the winner and we are extremely excited to begin our relationship with The Castle at Ashley Manor.

Whether we had won or not, I would have to give mad props to their staff for coming up with an amazing idea and really getting their brides involved in the process! We had a blast and it looked like all of the attendees did too!PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-72803863938385225412008-03-29T01:35:00.000-07:002008-04-14T01:37:04.691-07:00Wedding cake sizes... what gives???I recently added a bit about this on our FAQ page, but since it comes up quite a bit, I figured I would blog it too.

Wedding cake sizing can be a real point of confusion for couples when meeting with different cake companies. I mean, if you order a cake that "serves 100" from one company, it's going to be the same size as a cake that "serves 100" from another company.... right?

Umm... no. Unfortunately, this is where some couples can end up paying more for less if they don't do some research. To some cake shops, a 3 tier cake that consists of a 12" round, 9" round, and a 6" round, feeds 100 guests. Based on the serving chart that we use, those same cakes feed just 84 guests. Yep, you read that right. You can order the exact same size cake from 2 different companies and one will charge you for 84 servings and the other will charge you for 100 servings.

If the 100 serving place is $3.50 a serving and the 84 serving place charges $4.00 serving... then the $3.50 per serving place is cheaper....right? Not so much. (84 servings x $4 = $336, 100 servings x$3.50 = $350). And now you know how a $4.00 per serving cake can be less expensive than a $3.50 per serving cake... even for the exact same size cake.

Don't get me wrong, the bakers that say that say a 12-9-6 configuration feeds 100 guests aren't trying to screw anyone, they are just using the industry standard Wilton serving chart to calculate their servings... most bakers use it... but not everyone.

My tip: Always ask what sizes your cake layers will be so that you can accurately compare 2 or more companies wedding cake pricing, you may be surprised.PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3977177645827274920.post-70886753760665674362008-03-26T01:49:00.000-07:002008-04-15T21:35:45.997-07:00Charm City Cakes invaded by droids...For a while now, our friends over at Charm City Cakes have been referring couples to us that contact them requesting cakes in AZ (it's a bit outside of their delivery range). It took us long enough but we decided that it was time to throw a little love their way.
Typically, as a cake shop, if we want to say "thanks"... we send a cake (duh)... but what does cake shop send to thank another cake shop?

A trash can, obviously :)

If you have been into our shop, you have definitely noticed the coolest trash can in the world sitting next to our water cooler and since the Charm City staff are a bunch of Star Wars freaks, we knew getting them one of their own was the perfect gift:

As you might expect, they love it (seriously, who wouldn't)! Duff told me that they have a pile of lightsabers in the bakery and that R2 found a home next to them. (yeah, it probably looks cooler than ours just sitting next to a water cooler, but you have to admit... that's a pretty sweet water cooler... I'm just sayin').

I should mention, they just started shooting season 5 of Ace of Cakes http://www.aceofcakestv.com/, If you don't already watch it, you should. Seriously. It's a lot of fun and they are really a great group. .. and at the very least, if you watch it you may see a sweet trash can.

PieceOfCakehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07213407135143776067noreply@blogger.com2
